Research statement: I am a plant molecular biologist committed to developing sustainable solutions for
food production and biofuel generation. With a background in molecular biology, genetics,
and biotechnology, my goal is to contribute to innovation and support a more environmentally
sustainable future. At the Centre for Lignocellulose Structure and Formation (CLSF)
at Penn State, my research focused on understanding the mechanisms underlying secondary
cell wall formation in plants, which make up the bulk of wood biomass. In Dr. Brandizzi’s
lab, as part of the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Centre (GLBRC) at MSU, I am interested
in engineering plant enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of cell wall glucans, with
the goal of optimizing sugar profiles for biofuel production, using Sorghum as a model
bioenergy crop.
